2I bought but I'm returning it...
By Lisa K Bohne
The espresso is ok. Its not great, just OK. The bean hopper is really not working. I quit trying to use the grinder because it consistently made the coffee too weak because not enough beans get ground.. See other reviews. I should have listened. I ground my own and it turns out OK, not 400 worth of fantastic, just OK. What finally was "it" for me is that when the frothing wand starts up initially it shoots about an ounce of steamy water which waters down your latte A LOT. so no, unless they fix it - I'd go look somewhere else.

1Six month old and broken
By Wayne A. Brown
Turned on the machine and the display looks like a snowy tv screen...unreadable. Called Philips and they said send them an email, they will send a return authorization and label then it will take 4-8 weeks to fix the machine and return it to me. During this time...no coffee. Sent the email yesterday morning and didn't hear back as of 6pm tonight (Friday). Called again and they said it takes three days to generate the return and label. Well...that makes sense because if it takes two months to fix it then of course it would take three days to do a label. As mentioned by others - it does jam frequently even with dry light beans. Run the other way!

1Weak Shots due to hopper design flaw
By schützenjunge
The hopper seems to jam up pretty often--even using dry beans--because of the safety device they've added (a little dome with holes in it). Consequently, about every 3 or 4 cups it will think it has filled the chamber with enough coffee when it hasn't, giving you weaker-than-green-tea coffee. So, AT YOUR OWN RISK, read the following......To avoid the empty chamber problem, you simply have to bend/clip off the little plastic safety guards that hang down from the safety guard, and voila, it makes awesome drinks! Once you do this, you will love this machine. BUT of course, then you must be absolutely, positively sure to keep fingers and children away from the hopper/grinder, and you do this at your own risk. Obviously, a finger in the grinder would mean serious injury, or heck, even death I suppose......Saeco, if you are reading this, please fix your hopper safety device so that your machine works properly.
